Spring in New England

We had a bit of snow up my way last night. Not everyone appreciates a nice spring snow shower, but I do. As much as I'm ready for motorcycle season, I say you can't beat the sight of snow cover trees lining the roads.

BTW Annie is a Hampsta Bwain and is maligning my flawless character.

Bad Launch

I had a bit of a bummer yesterday. I launched the rocket pen and it had a bad trajectory. I thought it was going to go over the wall into Tom's cube. When I went to catch it, it hit the wall and came down on top of Kit Fisto and broke his lightsaber. Bummer - gonna need some super glue!

Not much to say

I've done some stuff, and I'm gonna do more stuff. I'll do an update one of these days. In the mean time, I figured I should blog something, so here's a funny ditty from Annie - who primarily uses venison in her cooking because Jeff hunts:

Raising Rednecks

On the way home from church yesterday, Nathan asked, "Mom, if you want to eat a cow, do you hide in the barn and shoot it with a gun?"

Pat Update

Hi, It's been a while since I put anything up here, so here's a quick update:

My Christmas and New Year were great, and both were relatively quiet considering the size of my family. I had a nice NH>MD>PA>MD>MI>NH drive - about 2150 miles total. Including about 7.5 hours of nice conversation with Susie. When I got home I could tell that I had brought a multitude of germs with me, and they went straight to work getting me sick.

I spent last weekend home on the couch with flu-ish symptoms and a sore back. I went to work Monday (my B-day) and felt fine, but stuffed up. By the time I got home from my Friendly's B-day dinner and Jim Dandy, my head was pretty sore. I woke up Tuesday feeling like I had been hit in the face with a sledge hammer. So, I stayed home and slept. Wednesday I was feeling better. I had a doctors appointment in the afternoon, so I slept in that morning and then went to the Dr. By the time I got there, I felt pretty good.

The Orthopedist took a new X-ray and said that my leg was fine and sent me on my way. So, I went and tested it by walking throught the Concord Antiques Mall. Then I went and met Al for a drink. Then I went home and drank some black Sambuca. Then I definitely felt better.

So, I've been back at work the last two days and have pretty much gotten caught up. Next week I start 4 weeks of training on a new product. It will be a lot of work, but will be worth it to add one more product to my training stable.

Now I'm going to end this and drive over to Nashua to the Costco to get some shrimp so I can do a mini-boil for the Pat's game on Sunday. The Ouellettes are coming over, and possibly Mike Young.

Next week I'll try to post something interesting.

Hope everyone is happy, healthy and safe.

My ankle, book 2

I went to the doctor yesterday and he had good news - just a stress fracture - no torn tendon! So, he switched me from the walking boot/air cast that I was in to a much smaller, more comfortable ankle wrap. I'll be wearing that for another 4 weeks then I should be done.

Oh, and John, they gave me crutches at first, but I never really used them because with the walking cast, there was no pain in my ankle.

My ankle

I just got a call from my doctor. It looks like I have both a stress fracture and a tendon tear in my ankle. He's gonna have a spine ortho look at my film tomorrow (as a favor) so they can decide what type of cast I should be in for 2 weeks until I see the foot ortho specialist. Bummer - but at least now I know something's wrong for sure and can get it fixed!

Man, am I bored today!

When we were at Matt's for the MI @ IU game, he, of course, served us goetta for breakfast - always a treat! Then, at the game, he served up another Cinci treat - sausages called metts. They were really good, so I decided to look them up and found this page which I found pretty darn informative.

Want some?

Hope everyone is well.

What's up with me?

Hi,

I haven't posted in a while - so here's what I'm up to:

This past Saturday I had a shrimp boil at my place. I had 30 people and one dog attend. The boil turned out really good, and people brought more apps and desserts than we could have possibly eaten. Mike and Chris flew out from MI, a bunch of folks fought the "leaf peeper" traffic driving up from Mass, and Al's sister Lori drove down from Maine. After the party, the Ouellettes spent the night - we put the kids to bed and smoked some good cigars out back in the moonlight. Pix from the boil are on my website. Shrimp Boil Pix

Sunday, I work up to the sound of the boys playing with my toys. We headed to church, heard a good sermon about marriage, then had a nice breakfast at the Derry Diner. After a brief photosession at the pond, the Ouellettes headed home. Mike and Chris and I went back to the house to watch some football, then I drove Chris to the airport. I left Mike to watch football, but when I got home, I was surprised to find him cleaning my kitchen. I pitched in we got the whole place cleaned up pretty quickly. Then we headed out to the pub to watch the afternoon games. Then it was back home to watch the Sunday night games and the deleted scenes and alternate endings to X3.

On Monday morning, Mike and I drove to Logan and parked the car. We took the train into the city, had lunch at the Pour House, went to Newbury Street Comics, stopped in at Cheers and basically has a great day walking around Boston in perfect weather.

This coming weekend is the Pilon Family Oktoberfest party in MD. I'm taking Friday off and driving down to Annie's Thursday night with the Ouellettes. Kelly is excited to see Annie's boys again, and especially to see how my "spirited" Godsons get along (i.e. how much havoc can they wreak). Of course, my MI cousins will be attending as usual. I think I see them now more than when I lived there! Anyway, Oktoberfest is the main reason for the trip, but having crab cakes at G&M is a close second.

Well, that should do for now. I'm sure I'll be posting some pictures and a re-cap of Oktoberfest next week.

I hope everyone is happy, healthy and safe.

Can't comment right now

Hi,

I'm glad you stopped by, and I'd love to read your witty comments, but I can't right now. Unfortunately, the way this blogger is setup right now, only my siblings can post comments. I'm looking into changing that, but it may take a while. In the mean time, you can leave comments in my guestbook if you like.

Later,

Pat

Not sure what I'm doing yet, but you gotta start somewhere.
